Rayudu: Patidar’s use of Bhuvi at the death was a masterstroke

Rajat Patidar, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain, has been fined INR 12 lakh for his side’s slow over-rate in the win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Monday night. Liverpool make approach for Brazilian teenager

Speaking of youngsters, a new report from ESPN Brazil claims that Liverpool have made an approach for Gremio goalkeeper Gabriel Menegon, with the 16-year-old a highly-rated young prospect and already standing at an impressive 1.96m, bigger than Reds captain Virgil van Dijk (1.95m).

While he is now a part of Brazil’s Under-17s side, Megenon is expected to join Gremio’s senior side soon, with Nottingham Forest also in the race alongside the Reds and sporting director Richard Hughes.

Signing the best young talent around should always be at the forefront of Liverpool’s thinking, and in Menegon, they could have a very special player on their hands.

The Brazilian has one cap at Under-17 level for his country, and, in the long run, could be a future part of the senior squad. Alisson and Ederson are currently Brazil’s elite options, but over time, Menegon could be the next star keeper.

أجرى آرني سلوت مدرب ليفربول مؤتمراً صحفياً للحديث عن لقاء برينتفورد، ضمن منافسات الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وقال سلوت عن الإصابات في تصريحات نشرتها “ليفربول إيكو” البريطانية: “جيريمي فريمبونج ليس جيداً ولن يلعب غداً أو الأسبوع المقبل، إصابة أوتار الركبة ستستغرق بعض الوقت”.

وأضاف :”إيزاك حالته ليست سيئة للغاية، لا تزال هناك علامات استفهام حوله، لنرى ما هي ستكون حالته وينطبق الأمر نفسه على جرافنبيرخ، أليسون سيستغرق وقتاً وليس ضمن قائمتنا”.

وواصل :”فيرتز؟ أجد الأمر مضحكاً بعض الشئ، احتساب تمريرته في هدفنا الخامس أمام فرانكفورت ، وعدم احتساب مساهمته في هدف التعادل ضد يونايتد، كان أداؤه بشكل عام مميز وقد أعجب به جمهور ليفربول ورأينا المزيد من ذلك بالفعل، لكن عندما تخسر مباراة يأتي التركيز على الجوانب السلبية، لكن عندما تفوز 5-1 بركلتين ثابتتين، يتحدث الناس عن هجماتك الجيدة من اللعب المفتوح”.

وسئل سلوت عن اللاعب الذي يحصل على مكانه في التشكيل الأساسي: “لا يقتصر الأمر على التعاقدات الجديدة فحسب بل يتعلق أيضاً بامتلاك العديد من اللاعبين المتميزين، انظر لجميع الأندية الكبرى في العالم، جميعها تمتلك أكثر من 11 لاعب قادرين على اللعب، توقعت بعد العديد من التغييرات في الصيف وبعد سبع انتصارات متتالية نحتاج للتطور والتكيف مع بعضنا البعض وستكون هناك لحظات صعبة خلال الموسم خاصة بالنظر لجدول المباريات، نلعب خمس من أصل ست مباريات خارج ملعبنا”.

وأجاب سلوت حول إذا كان الفريق قد مر بلحظة من السلبية: “لا أعتقد أنني سأستخدم هذه الكلمة، أعني أن الناس أكثر تركيزاً على بعض الأمور، انظروا إلى الشوط الثاني في فرانكفورت والأول في يونايتد، كان هناك تحكم لكن النتيجة تعكس الأمور بشكل مختلف، قلت أننا نقوم بصناعة الكثير من الفرص، لكننا نستقبل أهداف أكثر مما أرغب، لم نستقبل أي فرص حقيقية بعد أن كنا متقدمين بثلاث أهداف لهدف ضد فرانكفورت، الفرق الرئيسي هذا الموسم هو أساليب وطرق اللعب المختلفة التي واجهناها، خضنا مباريات ضد فرق لعبت 178 كرة طويلة في أول سبع مباريات في الدوري الإنجليزي ثم 59 كرة ضد يونايتد، الطريقة السحرية للتغلب على ذلك هو لحظة إبداعية أو ركلة ثابتة”.

وحول أسلوب لعب مانشستر يونايتد فقد قال سلوت: “كان من المفترض أن يكون ذلك بمثابة مجاملة للمدرب المنافس الذي وجد طريقة للعب ضدنا ولكنني لا أعتقد أن الأمر جاء بهذه الطريقة”.

وعن وضع ليفربول الحالي أكد سلوت :”إذا خسرت عدة مرات، عليك أن تخبر اللاعبين باستمرار أنهم على الطريق الصحيح، لكننا نعيش هذه الفترة فإذا أخطأنا في تفصيلة صغيرة فإننا نستقبل هدفاً، علينا أن نحسن الأداء 10 مرات من أصل 10 لنسجل، ليس الأمر هكذا دائماً”.

وأتم سلوت تصريحاته عن نقطة ضعف مانشستر يونايتد: “لماذا لم أذكر ذلك من قبل؟ من الواضح أنهم يتبعون هذه الخطة منذ فترة، لكنني لم أكن متأكداً تماماً من أن كل مدرب يعرفها، لكن في لحظة ما أصبح الأمر واضح جداً، سمعت أن جلاسنر أيضاً تحدث مع طاقم فرانكفورت وهو أمر طبيعي أن تحدث مثل هذه الأمور حول كيفية لعبنا، في آخر مباراتين لعبنا فيهما بخطة 5-4-1 ضد يونايتد وبالاس، خلقنا فرص أكثر مما فعلنا في الموسم الماضي ضد دفاع يلعب بشكل منخفض، كان علينا التعديل ولعبنا ضد فرانكفورت مرة أخرى بنفس الخطة وغيرناها أيضاً، مر مانشستر سيتي بهذه التجربة لسنوات عديدة، هم جيدون جداً في اللعب في المساحات الضيفة وهذا أمر نحتاج لتحسينه”.

وأشاد سلوت بلاعبه جونز: “لا أستغرب عدد المرات التي يلمس فيها الكرة، نعتمد عليه في مركز أدنى قليلاً ضد فرق تلعب بدفاع منخفض ولا تضغط على الكرة، جونز زادت مدة مشاركته منذ أن جئت إلى هنا وهناك سبب لذلك وأنا معجب بتطوره، معه كأي لاعب يتنافس مع خمس أو ستة لاعبين جيدين آخرين في خط الوسط”.

وحول وضع كيليهير حارس مرمى ليفربول: “ربما يكون الحارس استثناء لكن بشكل عام لا أعتقد أن جلوس اللاعب على مقاعد البدلاء لمعظم الموسم وضع صحي، أحد الأسباب التي جعلتنا نعتقد أنه من الأفضل لكوانساه وإليوت البحث عن نادي آخر، كيليهير قدم أداء رائع، سنواجه هندرسون أيضاً وفي هولندا لا يتوقفون عن الحديث عن افتقاد أياكس له”.

وختم حول مشاركة كيركيز مع ليفربول: “يعتمد الكثير على مشاركة كيركيز أساسياً معنا في مباريات البريميرليج، هو يضيف حيوية كبيرة لنا ويستمر في التقدم والتراجع، يدافع بشكل ممتاز في مواقف واحد ضد واحد ضد الأجنحة، لم يحالفه الحظ”.

Ben Brown scored his first century as Hampshire captain to eliminate fears of an innings defeat to Durham in the Rothesay County Championship.Hampshire were still 92 runs away from avoiding the follow-on when Toby Albert was the sixth man to depart, but Brown and Felix Organ ticked through the required runs with a 164 stand.Brown replaced James Vince – who has moved to Dubai – as club captain in the winter and led from the front with a patient unbeaten 143.Hampshire ended the day on 429 for seven, trailing by 82, with Organ, Mark Stoneman and Nick Gubbins also recording half-centuries – with Matthew Potts’ three for 62 the best for Durham’s bowlers.The hosts have very little hope of winning the match after Durham had racked up 511 on the opening two days, and regular wickets through the morning put them in deep peril.Stoneman only added three runs to his overnight 57 – which had been his first half-century sine arriving on the south coast from Middlesex – before he edged Potts behind off his inside edge.Tom Prest was guilty of stretching too far outside off stump when he was caught behind, while Liam Dawson was bowled by a Potts delivery which kept a tad low – as the pitch appeared to be working slightly better for the bowlers.The opening two days have been a turgid batting-fest with a used pitch not disintegrating has expected in the hot sun.But some occasional turn for the spinners and bouts invariable bounce gave Hampshire’s batters a few moments of worry.Toby Albert was more out-gunned by Codi Yusuf’s pace when he was bowled, as Hampshire’s fears of being asked to bat again began to raise.But Organ, a highly competent batter who has opened the batting regularly in the past, was a welcome sight coming in at No.8.Brown had bumped himself higher up the order from seven to five, seemingly to give more stability in the face of wickets.He picked his moments to jab at deliveries in his textbook manner, while occasionally negating the lower bounce by crouching lower to meet the ball at its trajectory.A half-century came in 102 balls before a fifth century for the Rose and Crown came in 178 balls – it was the 26th of his first-class career.Hampshire only picked up two batting bonus points, but at 17:00 BST their deficit had dipped under 150 and the game felt safer – only a monumental effort could stop this match from becoming a draw.Organ, on his first appearance of the summer, reached his half-century in 124 deliveries but fell when he edged George Drissell to first slip.His partnership with Brown was the highest seventh wicket stand for Hampshire against Durham almost doubling a 2007 record set by Michael Brown and Shane Warne.

Manchester United are thought to be ahead of Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea to sign a new attacker likened to Amad Diallo.

Amad missing from latest Man Utd defeat

The Red Devils star was absent from the latest Man Utd loss to Brentford on the weekend, with Ruben Amorim unable to call upon the Ivory Coast international due to a family bereavement.

Prior to the weekend, the 23-year-old had featured in every game of the 2025/26 season and has been one of a few shining lights under Amorim at Old Trafford.

Whether it be playing on the right or in an attacking midfield role, Diallo has impressed under Amorim, scoring a memorable last-minute winner against Manchester City at the end of 2024.

Former Man Utd defender Rio Ferdinand hailed Diallo after his Etihad heroics, calling him “brilliant” under the current Red Devils boss.

“The new manager’s come in, and I would go as far as to say he (Amad) is the first name on the sheet for this new manager and that’s a testament to this kid’s character, his will to change the tide and swing against the current and say to people, ‘No, no, you can’t leave me out. You can’t! I might be small in stature but I have the biggest heart. I’m going to run, I’m going to work and then I’m going to make decisive, great decisions when I’ve got it, I’m going to impact the game.’”

“With and without the ball, he’s been brilliant. I think he’s a real footballer. I don’t think that was ever in doubt, everyone could see the talent. But they just didn’t see the other side of him when you look at him.”

Diallo is under contract until 2030, and by the looks of things, Man Utd want to bring in a player similar to the 23-year-old in 2026.

Man Utd in pole position to sign Kenan Yildiz

According to reports in Spain, Man Utd have taken the lead over Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Kenan Yildiz from Juventus.

Ahead of both the Gunners and those at Stamford Bridge, the Red Devils may find it easier to sign Yildiz if Marcus Rashford seals a permanent move away from Old Trafford.

Yildiz is valued at more than £80m and Man Utd ‘appears willing to take the first formal step in negotiations’.
