West Ham: Danjuma transfer talks could be imminent

A recent report has now shared a potentially significant update involving West Ham United and Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma.

The Lowdown: Moyes in forward hunt…

Sky Sports claim West Ham boss David Moyes could be a ‘very busy’ man this summer and wants at at least six new signings in total before the start of 2022/2023.

After just missing out on a place in the Premier League top six last season, the east Londoners are seemingly determined to keep pace with England’s elite who are strengthening all around them.

West Ham have already signed Morocco international Nayef Aguerd and sealed Paris-Saint Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola with attacking additions now being eyed.

The Latest: Report shares significant Danjuma update…

As per a report by El Periódico Mediterráneo, via Sport Witness, it appears the Irons could be set to move for Danjuma of Villarreal soon.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-latest-updates-2/” title=”West Ham latest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Indeed, they state talks between both the La Liga side and West Ham ‘may begin this week’ after ‘first contacts’ with the player’s representatives have commenced.

However, it is believed Villarreal ‘would only start negotiating with a starting price of €35 million (£30m)’.

The Verdict: Pay the price?

For around £30m, or potentially even more, Danjuma would still prove a snip for West Ham.

As per WhoScored, the Netherlands international finished 21/22 as one of Villarreal’s best-performing players whilst racking up their most attempts at goal per 90 on average.

Danjuma scored ten goals and assisted three others, the most goals and assists combined out of any of his teammates in the Spanish top flight.

Indeed, we believe Villarreal are well within their rights to demand £30m, especially since members of the media like football analyst Marcus Bring have called him a ‘ridiculous player’.

Spurs: Fabrizio Romano drops Lingard update

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Jesse Lingard.

What’s the talk?

In a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT, the Italian journalist revealed that, despite a number of reports linking Fabio Paratici with a move for the former Manchester United forward this summer, he has been told that Antonio Conte is not currently prioritising a move for the 29-year-old.

The transfer insider went on to state that Spurs will first need to offload a number of unwanted first-team players in order for the Italian sporting director to consider making a move for the former England international.

When asked for an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of the attacker, Romano said: “It will depend on how they sell these players. Then they will wait for the market and see what the possibilities are. But I’m told Lingard is not a priority for Tottenham as of now.”

Supporters will be gutted

Considering just how electric Lingard was during a loan spell at West Ham United in the season before last, Romano’s claim that Tottenham are not currently considering a move for the versatile attacking midfielder is sure to have left the Spurs faithful gutted.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-spurs-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

Indeed, over his 16 Premier League appearances in 2020/21, the £16.2m-rated forward was in astonishing form for the Hammers, scoring nine goals, registering five assists and creating three big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 2.6 shots, making 1.1 key passes and completing 1.1 dribbles per game.

These metrics saw the 32-cap international average a stunning SofaScore match rating of 7.19, not only ranking him as David Moyes’ best performer in the league but also as the 20th-best player in the division as a whole – playing a key role in the Irons sealing an extremely impressive sixth-place finish that year.

As such, should Lingard – who is reported to be demanding a £150k-per-week salary from his next club – be able to recreate this form after a potential free transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, not only would the 29-year-old appear to make an excellent addition to Conte’s current attacking options, he would also very much be in contention to be one of the signings of the summer.

Everton transfer news on Jesse Lingard

Journalist Paul Brown has now dropped an Everton transfer claim involving Jesse Lingard.

The Lowdown: Wage demands

As per ESPN, the Toffees are among the clubs who are eager to sign the 29-year-old, along with the likes of West Ham United, and the player is searching for the right club for him to gain first-team exposure so that he can force himself in contention for a place in England’s World Cup squad later this year.

He is reportedly seeking a contract worth £150,000-per-week to move to Merseyside, which would make him Everton’s highest-paid player by far.

The Latest: ‘Dangerous’

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown has now claimed that it would be ‘dangerous’ to sign the 29-year-old Lingard on a ‘massive’ salary, and does not expect the Toffees to outbidding West Ham on the wage front.

The reporter said: “Everton released quite a lot of money from the wage bill by getting rid of players already this summer and I know they hope to move more on as well.

“But I don’t think that means that they’d necessarily be outbidding West Ham on the wage front. I think it would be dangerous to add a player of Lingard’s age on a massive salary.

“I think they’re probably playing in the same kind of ballpark and Lingard knows that. He just needs to decide which club he’d rather sign for.”

The Verdict: Compromise needed

There is no doubt that Lingard would be a good signing for Everton on a free transfer, as he is currently rated at £16.2m by Transfermarkt.

Hailed as a ‘special’ player by David de Gea before leaving Manchester United, he has plenty of Premier League experience and would offer Lampard another handy option in the middle of the park.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/everton-news-7/” title=”Everton news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

However, he is 29 years of age now, so his best years are likely behind him. Therefore, the Toffees should not be looking to break their wage structure just to get a deal over the line for Lingard.

West Ham: Moyes handed huge Onana boost

West Ham United have been handed a huge boost in their bid to bring Amadou Onana to the London Stadium this summer.

What’s the latest?

That’s according to a recent report by Belgian media outlet HLN, who revealed that, following news of West Ham’s increased €30m (£25m) bid for the holding midfielder being rejected by LOSC Lille, the agent of the 20-year-old is now actively pushing for his client to secure a move away from the Ligue 1 side this summer – with doubts lingering about whether the Belgium international will be a starter under the management of Paulo Fonseca next season.

The report goes on to state that, despite the Lille president, Olivier Letang, believing that Onana will develop into a top-level talent in the future, the Frenchman would be willing to part with the midfielder for an offer in the region of €40m (£34m) this summer – with Everton, Leicester City and AS Monaco also believed to be keen on the former Hamburger SV starlet.

Moyes must act

Considering just how exciting a prospect Onana undoubtedly is, the news that the 20-year-old’s agent is now pushing for the midfielder to secure a move away from the Stade Pierre Mauroy this summer is sure to have come as a huge boost to David Moyes and his West Ham transfer team.

Indeed, over his 32 Ligue 1 appearances in 2021/22, the £9m-rated talent enjoyed a stellar breakthrough campaign, scoring one goal and creating three big chances for his teammates, as well as making an average of 1.5 interceptions, 0.9 tackles and winning 3.4 duels – at a success rate of 54% – per game.

These returns saw the £5.5k-per-week youngster who Jacek Kulig dubbed a “masterclass” average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 6.85, ranking him as Lille’s joint ninth-best performer in the league last season – a quite extraordinary achievement in his debut campaign in France.

Furthermore, according to FBref, the 20-year-old also ranks in the top 6% of midfielders in Europe’s big five leagues and European competitions for tackles per 90, as well as the top 21% for aerial duels won, the top 24% for clearances and the top 25% for interceptions over the last 365 days.

As such, the fact that Onana’s agent appears extremely keen to secure the starlet a move away from Lille this summer, coupled with West Ham’s latest offer being just €10m (£8.5m) short of Letang’s asking price for the midfielder, leads us to believe that Moyes simply must return with a third bid for the Belgian sensation in the coming days.

AND in other news: West Ham closing in on “remarkable” £10m target, it would be a “masterstroke” by Moyes

Tottenham: Conte clear ‘top player in the world’ can leave

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is swinging his axe behind-the-scenes as he makes it clear a ‘top player in the world’ is not part of his north London plans.

The Lowdown: Conte preparing…

The Lilywhites are aiming to give Conte their full support ahead of his first full Premier League season in charge of the club over 2022/2023, as evident by their flurry of transfer activity.

Indeed, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence have all arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in time for Conte’s pre-season.

However, while there has been a lot of movement in terms of incomings, the same really cannot be said for outgoings despite sporting director Fabio Paratici’s alleged efforts this week.

The Latest: Conte clear ‘top player in the world’ can leave…

As per The Evening Standard, as Spurs look to balance out their books after a series of investments, many players could leave – including midfielder Giovani Lo Celso despite his brilliant loan spell at Villarreal.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-3/” title=”Tottenham latest!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Argentine played a key role in their run to the Champions League semi-finals, but according to ES, Conte has ‘made it clear’ that the former Real Betis star is ‘not part of his plans’.

The Verdict: Stick or twist?

Described as a ‘top player in the world’ by compatriot Geronimo Rulli, Lo Celso’s form for Villarreal over the player’s spell on loan last year certainly backs that the South American’s real quality at times.

As per WhoScored, he proved a real threat, attracting more fouls per 90 than anyone in Unai Emery’s squad whilst also completing the third-highest amount of successful take-ons domestically.

However, given Conte’s reliably reported behind-scenes decision and his remarkable transformation of Spurs, it’s perhaps wise to let the Italian take full control and green-light a move away for Lo Celso – even despite the midfielder’s previous fine form at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Nottingham Forest keen on Cornet signing

Nottingham Forest have reignited their interest in Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet this summer, according to a fresh transfer rumour which has emerged.

The Lowdown: Cornet on the move?

The Ivorian joined the Clarets last year, and while they were eventually relegated to the Championship, he stood out as one of their best performers.

He scored nine goals in 21 top-flight starts – an excellent return for a struggling team – and Premier League-winning manager Pep Guardiola once said that he was ‘very impressed’ by the winger.

The 25-year-old looks almost certain to leave Burnley after their relegation, and it appears as though Steve Cooper’s side are right in the mix.

The Latest: Forest keen on Cornet

According to The Daily Mail, Forest have ‘revived their bid’ to sign Cornet this summer, with the attacker having a £17.5m release clause in his Burnley contract.

Everton and Fulham are also interested in snapping up the 29-cap Ivory Coast international, but the Reds are ‘pressing ahead’ with a potential move.

The Verdict: Strong wide option

Cooper has already made key attacking inroads this summer, bringing in the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi and Jesse Lingard, but Cornet could be another superb addition.

He has already shown that he can thrive in the Premier League, even in a team not renowned for playing expansive football, so he could come alive even more in the 42-year-old’s attack-minded system.

Indeed, the Ivorian’s former Clarets team-mate Chris Wood once mused that the Burnley squad “were going to sit down at the end of the season and just watch a highlight reel of his best goals”, so impressed were they with Cornet’s impact at Turf Moor.

Battling off other top-flight clubs could be tough, especially Everton, but Forest are an exciting proposition given their ambition in the transfer market. The hope is that Cornet’s head is turned by their interest and that he sees himself as a regular starter at the City Ground.

Leeds: Orta given Berisha green light

Leeds United have been given the green light to bring Mergim Berisha to Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to Kaan Bayazit, with the Turkish journalist revealing in a recent interview with MOT Leeds News that, following several reports linking Victor Orta with a move for the Fenerbahce SK centre-forward in recent weeks, the Super Lig side would be willing to part with the 24-year-old for a figure in the region of £5m this summer.

Speaking about the Whites’ interest in the former Germany U21 international, Bayazit said:

“He’s been a bit of a disappointment at Fenerbahce but they paid close to £4.5m for him so they’d like a bit more than that – which would take this north of £5m.

“He is up for sale and I imagine if [Jesse] Marsch worked with him before then it’s down to that. He did do decently at RB Salzburg.

“At RB Salzburg he often played as a second striker, at Fenerbahce he was expected to function alone up top more – but that didn’t really work out.”

Marsch will be buzzing

While it is true that, following his £4.5m move to Fenerbahce last summer, things did not exactly work out for the Berisha – scoring seven goals and registering three assists over 31 fixtures for the Super Lig side last term – considering just how impressive the forward was under Jesse Marsch at Red Bull Salzburg, it is not difficult to see why the American would like to bring the 24-year-old to Elland Road ahead of the Whites’ 2022/23 campaign.

Indeed, over his 52 appearances for Die Roten Bullen during the 48-year-old manager’s time in the Red Bull Arena dugout, the £5.4m-rated hitman was in exceptional form, scoring 23 goals and providing 14 assists for the Austrian outfit.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-leeds-united-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-much-more” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

His best campaign under Marsch undoubtedly came back in 2020/21, when the £29k-per-week striker scored 14 goals, registered 10 assists and created 13 big chances over his 28 Austrian Bundesliga fixtures, as well as taking an average of 2.7 shots – 1.7 of which hit the target – making 1.3 key passes and completing 0.5 dribbles per game.

These returns saw the striker who Max Camilleri dubbed “amazing” average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.28, not only ranking him as the 48-year-old’s fifth-best performer in the league but also as the joint seventh-best player in the top flight of Austrian football as a whole.

That same season, the 24-year-old also caught the eye over his six outings in the Champions League, scoring four goals, registering two assists and creating three big chances for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of 2.8 shots – 1.5 of which hit the target – making 1.5 key passes and completing 1.5 dribbles per game.

These metrics saw the German average a rather remarkable SofaScore match rating of 7.18, a quite astonishing feat considering the fact Salzburg were in a group alongside Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Lokomotiv Moscow that year.

As such, should Marsch be able to help Berisha refind this level of form after a potential switch to Elland Road this summer, the 13-cap Germany U21 international could very easily prove to be one of Leeds’ best signings of the window – especially for a reported fee of just £5m.

Newcastle: James Maddison is a "priority"

A big claim has emerged on Newcastle United and their interest in James Maddison in the summer transfer window…

What’s the talk?

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that the Leicester star is still their number one target as they weigh up whether or not to make another offer for him.

He Tweeted: “Newcastle’s priority remains James Maddison right now. Club considering a higher bid. LCFC still hopeful of getting Maddison to sign an extension. Told he’s intrigued by NUFC link but clubs close to £20m apart in valuation.”

Reporter Jacque Talbot, meanwhile, has explained why the club’s pursuit of the attacking midfielder has entered the public domain, writing:

“Maddison was leaked by the Midlands side cos LCFC wanted their fans to know they’re digging their heels in. Newcastle didn’t want it out there. So I guess think on that. Could back in again. I think two more, names that will improve the side as well.”

Supporters will be delighted

This claim from Jacobs will delight the Toon supporters as the prospect of the Englishman coming to St. James’ Park is an exciting one.

He is a proven Premier League performer who has the quality to make a big impact for Eddie Howe at the top end of the pitch. The midfield magician is a silky performer who uses his quick feet and creativity to spark things into life in the final third.

In the 2021/22 campaign, Maddison racked up 12 goals and eight assists in the top-flight as he started 28 games for the Foxes. He created a whopping 11 ‘big chances’ for his teammates and delivered 1.4 key passes per match as he showcased his ability to unlock defences on a regular basis.

At the age of 25, he is heading into the prime years of his career and has plenty of seasons left ahead of him to reach his peak and fulfil his potential. This means that the Magpies would be signing a proven performer who still has development left to go through, making him an excellent signing in the here and now and for the future.

Therefore, supporters will be delighted by the club’s interest in Maddison and will now be hoping that the Magpies can get a deal over the line for him before the window slams shut at the end of August to bolster Howe’s squad.

AND in other news, NUFC plotting bid for “quality” £44k-p/w sensation, he’d be “the best summer signing”…

West Ham interested in Marcos Senesi

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi, according to Dutch outlet 1908.nl (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown: Career so far

Signed from Argentinian outfit San Lorenzo in 2019 for £6.3million (Transfermarkt), Senesi has made 116 outings for the Dutch Eredivisie giants since arriving in Holland.

The 25-year-old centre-back reportedly recently attracted the attention of mega-rich Newcastle United, whilst Italian superpowers Inter Milan, AS Roma and Napoli have all previously been linked with the Argentina international.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-latest-updates-2/” title=”West Ham latest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Now it appears as though the Hammers are also keen on Senesi as David Moyes attempts to further bolster the defensive department after signing Nayef Aguerd…

The latest: ‘Battle erupts’

As per 1908.nl, translated by SW, West Ham and newly promoted Bournemouth are both keen on signing the one-cap star.

It’s claimed that ‘battle erupts’ between the two Premier League clubs in order to land Senesi, with Feyenoord demanding €15million (£12.6million) for the Argentine.

The report also states that ‘well-established English sources’ have told the outlet that West Ham are in the market for a central defender following the injury suffered to Aguerd that left the ace requiring surgery.

The verdict: Affordable optin

Having already shelled out £30million to bring Aguerd to the London Stadium (Sky Sports), it’s unlikely that GSB would sanction another big money outlay on a player who ultimately could prove to be little more than a backup option.

That said, the Moroccan’s injury has left Moyes with only Angelo Ogbonna, Kurt Zouma, Craig Dawson and a wantaway Issa Diop at his disposal in the defensive department, and £12.6m would hardly be an unachievable outlay.

Last season, Senesi scored three times and provided three assists in 50 appearances across all competitions, earning an impressive 6.97 Sofascore rating whilst making 4.2 clearances and winning 4.0 duels on average per game – outperforming Ogbonna when it comes to duels as the Italian only won 3.5 per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

Holding an estimated market value of £15.3million and in the final 12 months of a contract in Holland (Transfermarkt), signing the man known as ‘The Gladiator’ by supporters would be a superb piece of business and would see Moyes furnish the ranks with another battling character in the mould of the defenders already in situ.

Everton confident of signing Gibbs-White

Everton chiefs are reportedly confident of signing Morgan Gibbs-White, and are lining up a new bid for the Wolves central midfielder.

The Lowdown: Bid rejected

The Goodison Park outfit have reportedly had an initial bid of £22.5m rejected by Wolves for Gibbs-White, while Nottingham Forest have also seen an offer turned down.

The Englishman is a player in demand this window, coming off the back of a very impressive season where he managed 13 goals and ten assists in total over all competitions, with the vast majority of them coming during a successful loan spell at Sheffield United (Transfermarkt).

The Latest: New bid lined up

As per Football Insider, the Merseyside club are ‘confident’ of signing Gibbs-White before the transfer window closes.

Toffees chiefs have been ‘encouraged’ by the fact that he is ‘keen’ on signing for them, and Frank Lampard’s side are now lining up a new bid for the 22-year-old.

The Verdict: Gueye alternative?

The proposed re-signing of Idrissa Gueye from PSG seems to have hit a stumbling block, and so the Blues may have to look at targeting other midfielders in the last few weeks of the window.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/everton-news-7/” title=”Everton news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Hailed as ‘outstanding’ by former Barnsley head coach Poya Asbaghi, Gibbs-White was voted as the Blades’ Player of the Season last term despite only being on loan, and he is ready to make his mark in the Premier League.

If the Gueye deal does fall though, while Gibbs-White doesn’t offer the same defensive skill-set, he could provide another body in midfield to drive the game forward and get the Blues on the front foot.
