Everton Eyeing Abraham 2.0 In £15m ‘Phenomenon’

Everton will need to further supplement their attacking ranks this summer to hit the ground running this season, with Sean Dyche setting his sights on Southampton striker Che Adams.

Who are Everton signing this summer?

According to multiple sources – including BBC Sport – the Toffees are closing on a deal for Sporting Lisbon striker Youssef Chermiti, aged 19, who broke into first-team contention last term.

Ashley Young has already been signed on a free transfer while Arnaut Danjuma arrives on a one-year loan transfer, but a recognised and established centre-forward would also be well-received as Everton strive to avoid another season mired in relegation troubles.

And so, Adams – who was relegated with Saints last season – is also being considered for transfer, with Football Insider revealing the Merseyside outfit have a genuine interest in the Scotland international, with Premier League rivals Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers also in pursuit.

Should Everton sign Che Adams?

Adams penned a deal with the south coast club for £15m from Birmingham City in 2019, and has scored 31 goals and supplied 15 assists from 145 outings across all competitions.

Once quirkily likened to "the ketchup bottle phenomenon" by former manager Ralph Hasenhuttl for maintaining his hunger for goals despite a concerning goal drought, Adams is the tenacious and multi-skilled striker Everton could benefit from.

He suffered an injury-disrupted campaign as Southampton fell into the second tier, but still plundered five goals and three assists from 23 starts, as per Sofascore, forging 1.7 shots and 0.9 key passes per match.

To compare this to Dyche's attacking options last term, Maupay scored once, averaging 1.2 shots and 0.3 key passes per match, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin only scored twice as he fought his own fight against injury, though did average 1.8 shots and 0.5 key passes per outing.

AS Roma'sTammyAbrahamduring the warm up before the match.

As per FBref, Adams is interestingly considered the most comparable player to Roma striker Tammy Abraham, and given the former Chelsea ace's dynamism and variety in attacking approach, Dyche could certainly benefit from adding a similar player to the ranks.

Abraham was once described as "incredible" by former manager Frank Lampard, and has impressed during his time in Italy, scoring 36 goals and supplying 12 assists from 107 appearances, winning the Conference League in the 21/22 campaign.

The 11-cap England international averaged 1.6 shots and 0.9 key passes per game last season and as such boasts a similar profile to Adams, which would only play in Everton's favour.

There is a cautious optimism that Calvert-Lewin will play a major role in the forthcoming campaign, and has been partaking in a new summer fitness regime to build his resilience.

The 6 foot 2 focal point will be the team's main goal-grabber if he can indeed put his medical issues behind him, and Adams could prove to be the perfect partner, offering a more dynamic, multi-faceted threat.

Abrahams once claimed that Jose Mourinho's tutelage in Rome was turning him into a "monster", and perhaps Dyche can play to Adams' strengths to a similar effect.

Man United: CBS reporter drops crushing Amrabat transfer update

Manchester United have "discussed" signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, however the move is nowhere near as advanced as reports have suggested, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Is Sofyan Amrabat joining Man United?

There have been reports that Amrabat has packed his bags ahead of a move to Old Trafford, as he believes Man United and Fiorentina are close to reaching an agreement, after an offer of £21.5m was made for his services last week.

That bid was just shy of the Italian club's asking price, which is believed to be £26m, however the midfielder is confident a deal will be struck in the coming days, so he has started to prepare for a move to Manchester.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently confirmed that "conversations" have been held with the Moroccan's camp, with the player himself "open" to a move to Old Trafford, but he does not believe it is close to being a done deal.

That viewpoint is shared by Jacobs, who recently told GiveMeSport that while United have expressed an interest in the 26-year-old, the move is nowhere near as close as has been suggested by the media.

The journalist said: “So, it is true that a defensive midfielder is a possibility in terms of the position that Manchester United may look to strengthen next, should they get Rasmus Hojlund over the line and Sofyan Amrabat is on the list.

“But I’m still not aware, despite the reports, of any bid or anything imminent on the Amrabat front. So, it’s fair to say that the player is there and has been discussed by Manchester United, but I don’t actually think that it’s as far along or as focused as perhaps being reported by others.”

How good is Sofyan Amrabat?

The Red Devils were keen on signing the Morocco international during the January transfer window, having been impressed by his performances for the Atlas Lions at the World Cup, however they instead opted to sign Marcel Sabitzer.

Journalist Charlie Parker-Turner was also wowed by the central midfielder's performances out in Qatar, saying: "Sofyan Amrabat is in the conversation for Player of the Tournament. Unbelievable warrior of a midfielder."

Not only has the maestro impressed at international level, he has also put in some top-quality performances for Fiorentina, averaging a pass success rate of 89.2% in the Serie A last season, the second-highest of any midfielder to play over 1500 minutes.

sofyan-amrabat-fiorentina-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-gossip-mousa-dembele-postecoglou

However, there may be some justified concerns about the lack of attacking threat posed by the Fiorentina ace, who has failed to score a non-penalty goal in the past year, while his defensive attributes can also be called into question.

The World Cup star ranks in just the 32nd percentile for tackles, and the 42nd percentile for interceptions per 90 over the past year, indicating he may not be as solid a defensive midfielder as Man United fans were hoping for.

Of course, Amrabat has proven he is capable of performing at the top level, with journalist Greg Lea describing him as the "heartbeat" of the Morocco side that reached the semi-finals of the World Cup, but there are question marks over whether he is good enough for the Red Devils.

'Anya Shrubsole, what a hero'

Reactions from the England players and team management after their triumph over India in a nail-biting World Cup final at Lord’s

ESPNcricinfo staff23-Jul-2017Anya Shrubsole”I’m a little bit lost for words, if I’m honest. Just an unbelievable game. It looked for a minute like we were out of it, but one of the great things about this team is we never give up. Alex Hartley got that vital wicket of Harmanpreet (Kaur) and we never looked back from there.”It’s more that you don’t want the game to be ruined by rain. It was just an amazing game from start to finish, and I think it’s a very fitting final for what’s been a brilliant World Cup. It’s a World Cup final, there’s a huge amount of pressure, so much pressure on new batters coming in. We never let the run rate get away from us, even though we weren’t getting wickets, so we knew if we got a couple, we’d be right in the game. It’s a dream, and a dream you never think is going to come true. Here, watching my dad play in the club national knockouts, so to be back 16 years later as a World Cup winner is just amazing.”Heather Knight”I can’t stop smiling, to be honest. So proud of that group of girls, they have been outstanding. We’ve made it hard for ourselves this tournament, but I couldn’t care less. We won those really tight games, which is something we wanted to work on over the last 18 months. Back in Delhi feels like a long time ago, but it was the making of this team. All we’ve done in the last 18 months is to deal with situations like that. Anya Shrubsole, what a hero. What a day.”Credit to India, they had a brilliant tournament and played really well. Punam (Raut) was batting outstandingly and they got some partnerships together. I thought if we hung in there and let the rate stay around five or six that we’d always be in the game. The girls really held their nerve. We took our catches at the end, apart from that little one by Jenny Gunn which was slightly stressful, but the main thing is we got over the line and have got the trophy. Just want to thank the crowd, the support has been fantastic throughout the tournament. Hopefully after our success, we can grow the game in this country. There has never been a better time for girls to play.”Tammy Beaumont”Robbo (Mark Robinson, the coach) had to remind me that I’ve been doing well. So many of the girls stood up. It’s been a great team performance. Myself and Lauren got off to a good start, but we thought we threw it away. But our batting order has been superb. Jenny Gunn and Katherine Brunt were excellent. Full credit to Raut and Kaur, they put on an exceptional partnership. In my head, it was never in doubt, we knew one wicket could change things. It was back in April that we all came here to the Lord’s tour. Lot of hard work went into it, all for just this moment.”Sarah Taylor”Probably couldn’t have been a better comeback, I’m just so proud of the girls. It’s been a roller coaster year for me, but to be part of this team has been simply incredible. For me, it was a case of being healthy, just get back training and see how I go. I was just lucky to be here for the World Cup. India played exceptionally well and we’ve been there, so we know it hurts. But I guess you have to rebuild, come back stronger, and this will make them better cricketers and better people. Good luck to them in the future. Heather Knight’s such a calm character, there was no pressure on us at all. She just lets us play our game. She’s been an incredible character for us and an incredible person.”Alex Hartley”I can’t believe it. This is what we’ve been working for. The girls were absolutely fantastic. It’s a dream come true for all of us. I’ve never stepped onto Lord’s before in a game, absolutely fantastic that we managed to pull it off. At that moment, you can’t really think of that (that a World Cup is at stake), you get too nervous. For me, it’s just another cricket game, but at the back of the mind, it was the World Cup. Anya Shrubsole, what a hero.”Laura Marsh”Think I bowled okay, but Anya was just outstanding at the end, to take all those wickets under pressure was fantastic. I think in a World Cup final, every run is really important. We always knew we’re right in the game. We just stuck in there, it was brilliant.”Fran Wilson”We knew we’d be able to pull through. We’ve done it before; we knew we could do it again. Credit to Anya, she was amazing. Everyone was amazing. I can’t tell you what was going through my head. I guess just past experiences, knowing that 20,000 people are behind you and also the 11 girls on the pitch and the support staff, all willing you on, and that’s always going to keep you calm. It was amazing, an incredible experience. I can’t imagine life after the World Cup.”Jenny Gunn”It’s brilliant to be here at Home of Cricket, Lord’s, home support, in front of family and friends, is just amazing. This is one of the best teams I’ve played with.”England coach Mark Robinson”India played really well, but I’m so proud of the girls. We knew we were 30 light, but we knew we were always in the game. The wicket has been used before, early in the year, so slow bowlers were always going to be hard to get away. So it was a fighting score. This team has a lot of heart, lot of courage. We just needed that break every now and then, and once we had that break, we were right in this game. The game’s really grown, has been incredibly backed by the ICC, it has been marketed, the media has got behind it. And what an atmosphere today. I really enjoyed it. I was desperate for us to win, but it’s such a great occasion, and I just enjoyed every minute of it. The girls have been really well-behaved this trip, I don’t suppose they will be tonight.”

Tottenham: Spurs Could Make "Underrated" Signing

Tottenham Hotspur have made contact to sign Wolves defender Max Kilman and could hijack Napoli's move for him, according to reports.

Who are Spurs signing this summer?

Ange Postecoglou has seen his new Spurs side make serious moves this summer transfer window, with the north Londoners already sealing deals for Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and, soon enough, former Fulham loanee Manor Solomon.

Vicario, who signed from Empoli in a £17.2 million deal, could succeed the potentially outgoing Hugo Lloris who has freely admitted he could leave this summer. The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and if all goes to plan, Lloris may well end an 11-year assocation with Tottenham.

Meanwhile, the capture of Maddison from Leicester City hands Postecoglou a creative attacking midfield option, and his impressive haul of 10 goals and nine assists in the league alone last season should excite supporters.

The signing of a centre-back is now Spurs' top transfer priority, and according to reports, they have made some headway.

Indeed, Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven is apparently edging closer and closer to north London, with Tottenham also eyeing up moves for Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba, Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo and former loanee Clement Lenglet from Barcelona.

There have been some reports linking Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi as well, but his alleged £60 million asking price poses a problem for Spurs.

Kilman, who impressed for Wolves under Julen Lopetegui, is being courted by Serie A title-winners Napoli but Spurs are also in constant contact.

max-kilman-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-news-opinion-premier-league

That is according to TUTTOmercatoWEB and journalist Raimondo De Magistris, who say Tottenham have entered the race for Kilman.

Writing on Twitter, De Magistris said:

"After Napoli, also Tottenham on the trail of Max Kilman, central unit born in '97.

"Lots of contacts in the last few days. Wolves have already rejected a 35M offer from Napoli and value his value at more than 40."

In his TMW piece, De Magistris also writes that Napoli are "stuck" on the rejected offer as Tottenham swoop in for Wolves' star defender.

"Napoli is stuck on the rejected offer for now and Kilman is now evaluating other opportunities," said the reporter.

"His priority would be to stay in the Premier League. In this sense, keep an eye on Tottenham, with the Spurs looking for a couple of central defenders for next season.

"It's not the only English club interested in the London center but the one that is carrying on the closest contacts today."

Who is Max Kilman?

The 26-year-old played more league minutes than any other Wolves player last season, all while making more clearances and winning the most aerial duels per 90 of any Molineux star (WhoScored).

It's little Kilman has been seriously endorsed by esteemed members of the press, like football commentator Jacqui Oatley, who claimed last year that he is "nationally underrated" and "pure class".

"Which player is the most nationally underrated in the Premier League? I’ll start us off with Max Kilman," said Oatley.

"The 24-year-old left-footed centre half is pure class and surely on Gareth Southgate’s radar."

Pune sign Tahir for injured Mitchell Marsh

Imran Tahir is set to turn up for a second IPL franchise – the Rising Pune Supergiant – after being signed as a replacement for the injured Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh

ESPNcricinfo staff23-Mar-2017South Africa’s Imran Tahir, the No. 1-ranked ODI and T20 bowler, is set to turn up for a second IPL franchise – the Rising Pune Supergiant – after being signed as a replacement for the injured Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh.Marsh, who had to leave Australia’s tour of India midway because of a shoulder injury, underwent a reconstructive surgery last week and faces the prospect of being sidelined for close to nine months. His unavailability allowed Supergiant to pick from the list of unsold players who had registered for the auction.Tahir, released by Delhi Daredevils after the previous season, found no buyers at the auction in February, despite listing himself at a base price of 50 lakh INR (US$ 76,394 approx). The franchise now has two overseas legspinners in their roster – they retained Australian legspinner Adam Zampa after an impressive debut season in 2016.Tahir, who played four games last season, had picked up 29 wickets in 20 matches for Delhi.

Spurs Eyeing Romero Repeat In ‘Extraordinary’ £17m Talent

Tottenham Hotspur could unveil their new goalkeeper shortly after agreeing personal terms with Empoli titan Guglielmo Vicario, ending speculation over the club's pursuit of a new shot-stopper.

What's the latest on Guglielmo Vicario to Tottenham?

That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who has taken to Twitter to provide a series of updates on the situation, the latest of which claims that a €19m (£17m) official proposal is incoming after personal terms were agreed yesterday.

Signing on a five-year deal, Vicario would likely assume the No 1. role at the club after impressing in Serie A this year; Spurs 'keeper Hugo Lloris is expected to depart this summer and he is clearly viewed as the replacement.

The 26-year-old Italian has been favoured by the Lilywhites hierarchy despite also agreeing terms with Brentford's David Raya, deterred by the £40m asking price.

Should Tottenham sign Guglielmo Vicario?

The 35-year-old Lloris has been a stalwart for Tottenham since signing from Lyon for £12m in 2012, but having made four errors leading to goal this year – the most in the division – and with Tottenham shipping 63 strikes, change is understandably afoot.

And while Raya would have been an impressive appointment after starring with the high-flying Bees in the Premier League over the past several seasons, the shrewder route has been taken and could still bear fruit, with Vicario offering all the promise of a first-rate goalkeeper for years to come.

Tottenham transfer target Guglielmo Vicario in Serie A action.

Hailed as an "extraordinary" talent by revered compatriot Gianluigi Buffon, Vicario recorded an average Sofascore rating of 7.05 as Empoli finished 14th in Serie A, playing 31 matches, keeping seven clean sheets and making 97 saves at a rate of 69%.

As per FBref, the £18k-per-week star also ranks among the top 9% of positional peers throughout Europe's top five leagues over the past 12 months for touches per 90, which underscores his prowess as a ball-playing goalkeeper, something that could fit the philosophy of new Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou to a tee, having been lauded for bringing "a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play" by club chairman Daniel Levy.

It could replicate Spurs' recent success in bringing Cristian Romero over from Italian football, with the no-nonsense centre-back signing from Atalanta for £42m in 2021.

Despite the north London outfit's defensive woes, the Argentine World Cup champion has been hailed as a "Rolls-Royce" by Martin Keown and has earned his stripes through his tenacious grit, ranking among the top 5% of centre-halfs for tackles, the top 17% for successful take-ons and the top 20% for interceptions per 90.

On top of the assurance that a burgeoning goalkeeper would bring, Spurs could continue their trend of fortifying the ranks from Serie A with the signing of Vicario, and it is a transfer that must be concluded swiftly ahead of a campaign of paramount importance.

"World Class" 46 y/o Open To Leeds Move

Leeds United target Daniel Farke is thought to be “open” to the idea of making the move to Elland Road this summer.

What’s the latest Leeds manager news?

The Whites are hoping to conclude their search for a new manager early next week, with final interviews planned following the weekend.

Farke, alongside West Brom’s Carlos Corberan and Scott Parker are thought to be in the frame for the vacancy in Yorkshire, with all three enjoying success in the second tier.

The former Norwich City manager is currently out of work after leaving Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this month, and it looks as if he would be interested in a return to the Championship, looking to win the title for a third time.

Journalist Pranav Shahaney took to Twitter to share news on Farke and Leeds, claiming the German is “open to managing” Leeds in what is a boost for new owners the 49ers Enterprises, although the people now in charge at Elland Road are yet to make a decision.

“While Daniel Farke is open to managing Leeds United, no decision has been made yet by the club. LUFC plan on concluding their managerial hunt next week and have lined up face-to-face interviews with the German being one of the candidates.”

daniel-farke-norwich-leeds-united-manager-live-updates-gossip-championship-promotion

Who is Daniel Farke?

Farke had a short playing career in Germany and received his first big break as a manager back in 2017 with Norwich after managing Borussia Dortmund’s reserve side for two years.

The 46-year-old took charge of 208 games at Carrow Road, winning 88 of those and leading the club to the Championship title on two occasions. He left in November 2021 and took over at Krasnodar a few months later, although he departed the club without even managing a game. As mentioned, his last role came with Borussia Monchengladbach, winning 12 of his 36 games during the 2022/23 season.

Farke ends to play a 4-2-3-1 system and has been dubbed as a "world-class" coach by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in the past, so a move back to the second tier with Leeds were he enjoyed great success with Norwich could be a wise move.

It helps that the manager is also keen on the idea, unlike Brendan Rodgers who didn’t want to drop down to the EFL, so if talks go well early next week, who knows, we could see Farke announced as the club’s new man in charge fairly swiftly.

Phil cuts the Mustard after five-year drought

Phil Mustard’s first century in first-class cricket for nearly five years put Gloucestershire on course for victory in the Division Two match against Derbyshire despite a five wicket haul from Tony Palladino.Mustard’s unbeaten 107 and 94 from Chris Dent lifted Gloucestershire to 331, a first innings lead of 89, and at the close of day two Derbyshire were in deep trouble at16 for 2.Palladino took his 350th first-class wicket and finished with 5 for 74, the 13th time he has taken five wickets in an innings, but it was Gloucestershire’s day.Derbyshire would have been the side looking to take control when Tom Milnes struck in the second over of the morning before Gloucestershire had added to the overnight total. Will Tavare was trying to take his bat away but edged to Harvey Hosein and with the inexperienced George Hankins in the middle against a ball only 14 overs old, Derbyshire had the chance to make significant inroads. But Hankins showed good judgement and sound temperament to stay with Dent for 15 overs until he was bowled by an arm ball from Callum Parkinson for 34.Gloucestershire were still a long way behind when Hamish Marshall was lbw to Palladino shuffling back and across six overs before lunch but Derbyshire had to wait another 24 overs for the next wicket.Billy Godleman switched his bowlers around but Dent and Mustard showed patience and selectivity to add 85 for the fifth wicket before Dent tossed away the chance of a century. He had dispatched Wayne Madsen way back over long on to move into the nineties but when he tried to reach three figures with another big shot off Parkinson, he top-edged to mid on.Dent knew he had let Derbyshire back in but Mustard and Jack Taylor tilted the advantage towards the visitors with a stand of 74 before the second new ball gave the game another twist.Taylor chipped to midwicket to give Palladino his milestone and the seamer found just enough away movement to bowl Craig Miles before David Payne edged a drive into his stumps. When Liam Norwell chased a wide one from Will Davis, Mustard was in danger of being stranded but he pulled Davis for his 13th four to reach an excellent hundred.Josh Shaw helped add a precious 31 runs before he became Palladino’s fifth victim, leaving Derbyshire seven overs to negotiate and they lost Ben Slater lbw to Payne in the first before Billy Godleman edged Norwell to Mustard in the penultimate over.

Chelsea: Pochettino Could Land Own Martinelli In £87m Star

Chelsea have spent big under their new ownership, seeking to kickstart their revolution with a host of fresh faces at Stamford Bridge.

However, as they sit 11th in the table, it has quickly become clear just how difficult a task managing so many high-quality players is. Graham Potter and now Frank Lampard have fallen victim to such a poisoned chalice.

Despite this, Mauricio Pochettino will be expected to come in and lead the project forward, which is expected to involve a few more key additions to truly turn them into challengers.

Given their respective seasons, it is not unwise to suggest that Arsenal's meteoric rise will be studied by the former Tottenham Hotspur boss as a potential blueprint for earning similar success in the coming years.

If he is to do that, he will want to mimic the key assets of their play: a rock-solid, ball-playing back four gives way to a workmanlike midfield, affording two tricky wide men the space to provide for their frontman, who lead the press.

Despite their surplus of players on their left wing, Pochettino's first item of business could be to send all of them packing in order to replicate Gabriel Martinelli's success with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is thought to be a key target for the club.

What's the latest on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Chelsea?

As per Italian outlet Il Mattino, the Blues are reportedly going 'wild' for some of Napoli's key assets, following their imperious run to claim the Serie A title.

The Georgian magician ranks highly on that list, with Boehly seemingly having already enquired for more information on the availability of the 22-year-old, who is also likely to be the focus of many other European heavyweights.

Despite being deemed untouchable by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis in the initial report, it is expected that a minimum fee of around €100m (£87m) could tempt the Italian outfit into selling.

How good is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

Words do not do justice to just how good Kvaratskhelia has been this season, as one of two standout men in a title-winning team alongside leading talisman Victor Osimhen.

Coming from the left wing onto his favoured right foot, the mercurial forward has posted some incredible numbers in both the Serie A and Champions League. Having scored 14 goals and assisted 17 more across all competitions, via Transfermarkt, few in Europe have been as prolific and creative as him, with such returns generating one direct goal contribution every 96 minutes.

It is no surprise to see such a lofty price tag attached to the 6-foot dynamo's name and even less surprising to see Mail Sport journalist Mike Parrott suggest the youngster is a "world-class threat" for opposition defences.

However, for all his outstanding performances, Martinelli too has shone in a similar manner for a team that seems set to just fall short of their own league victory.

The Brazilian, at just one year Kvaratskhelia's junior, also enjoys gliding inside from the left flank. This has earned him huge success, as his 15 goals make him the club's joint-top scorer, with five assists to supplement this too.

Adding such a potent goal threat akin to the 21-year-old to Chelsea's wing could be the catalyst that Pochettino needs to spark the club back into life, driving them up the table should he translate his form into the English game.

gabriel-martinelli-arsenal-chelsea

What further aids in their comparison is that Martinelli also appears on FBref's similar players model for the Naples hero, only adding to the impact he could have should Boehly push this move through.

Given Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, Noni Madueke and Hakim Ziyech have a combined goal tally of just eight in the league, a player of Kvaratskhelia's quality would immediately make these assets obsolete and challenge the Gunners' Brazilian dynamo for the mantle of the top left-winger in the capital.
