Man United Make 29 y/o Star Top Transfer Target

Manchester United are clear on who they want to add this summer, with Sky Sports reporting that Harry Kane is their number one top transfer priority this summer transfer window.

Who are Manchester United hoping to sign this summer?

The striker has been imperious as ever in the Premier League this season in spite of Tottenham's struggles. Even with Spurs currently sat in eighth in the league, Kane has continued to score goals on a regular basis.

Having played nearly every single top-flight game for the side this year – he has 37 appearances in total – the attacker has bagged 28 goals and has managed three assists. It's his best total since 2017/18 and shows that despite being 29 years of age, he is still at the very top of his game.

It means that Kane has now become one of the highest-scoring Premier League players of all time with 211 to his name – he currently stands second in the rankings. Only Alan Shearer stands above him but with plenty of time left to add to his total, it isn't out of the realms of possibility that he could overtake the amount the former Magpies man managed (260).

Having impressed for so long, Man United have now made it their number one priority to add the player to their ranks this summer.

According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils have put the Spurs man at the very top of their wanted list in their search for another forward option. A deal won't be easy, with Tottenham as determined as ever to keep the England international as the club it seems. However, it hasn't stopped Erik ten Hag's side from making him one of their most wanted men during the transfer window.

They have also registered an interest in both Declan Rice and Mason Mount, but the report adds that they are unlikely to sign all three players.

Will Harry Kane join Man United?

The striker has once more been one of the best players in the entire Premier League, which is shown by his WhoScored rating of 7.47. Only Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne rank above him and when you consider the difference in terms of the two team's positioning this campaign, it is good going by the England international.

In fact, City boss Pep Guardiola has also heaped praise on the player, which is a big compliment coming from the former Barcelona man. He said that Kane is an "exceptional player" and that he may also be "one of the best strikers" that the manager has ever seen.

If United did sign him then, their goalscoring worries could be over, and he would be exactly the kind of upgrade to their strikeforce that they need after scoring the fewest number of goals out of the top seven sides this season.

Player With "Illegal" Skills Expected To Leave Chelsea

Chelsea youngster Tudor Mendel-Idowu is "expected to leave" Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, according to reliable journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

How is Mendel-Idowu faring at Chelsea?

The 18-year-old is a talented young attacker who has been with the Blues for over a decade now, working his way through the youth teams as the years have passed. He has made 35 appearances for the Under-18s, scoring 13 goals and registering six assists, as well as playing once for the Under-21s, despite still being so young.

A maiden first-team outing has continued to evade Mendel-Idowu, however, and with his current Chelsea deal running out this summer, the club have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future. There is the option of extending his stay, should he be viewed as a key man into the future, or he will be allowed to move on for a new challenge in the next month or so.

Could Mendel-Idowu leave Chelsea in the summer?

Taking to Twitter, Kinsella said that Mendel-Idowu would be one of numerous younger departures once this season comes to an end:

"Tudor Mendel-Idowu wasn't mentioned in this piece a few days ago but is also expected to leave Chelsea when his contract expires."

This is no doubt a tough one for Mendel-Idowu to take, and a situation that highlights how difficult it is for youngsters to make the grade at top clubs. It is so hard to make that step up to the first team, especially when big-money signings are arriving at the same time, which goes to show what special players the likes of Reece James and Mason Mount are.

Is seems clear that Mendel-Idowu simply isn't seen as someone who can ultimately become an important member of the senior squad, even though his skill levels have been hailed as "illegal" by Sky Sports contributor Zac Djellab in the past, such is his level of talent.

He will now seemingly be free to find a new club, though, and it is crucial that he picks the right one, going somewhere where he will be allowed to progress at his own pace, earn regular football and ultimately reach his potential as a player.

Just because Chelsea don't see a future for him doesn't mean he can't still forget an excellent career elsewhere, with his talent undeniable, and three goals in four caps for England's Under-17s a testament to his ability.

Sunderland’s Pritchard Heir Could Be 19 Y/o Signing

Sunderland's 2022/23 campaign unfortunately came crashing to an end earlier this week as they lost to Luton Town in the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs.

The Black Cats, who were missing the likes of Dennis Cirkin, Danny Batth, and Ross Stewart, lost 3-2 on aggregate and will be playing in the second tier next season.

Tony Mowbray is reportedly set to continue as the head coach and planning is underway for the club to bolster the squad heading into the following year.

It was recently reported that they are interested in a potential swoop to sign Northern Irish attacking midfielder Charlie Lindsay on a free transfer.

Who is Charlie Lindsay?

The 19-year-old talent is a versatile forward who has the potential to score and assist goals on a regular basis and could be an excellent addition to Sunderland.

He is going to be a free agent this summer upon the expiry of his contract with Scottish giants Rangers and Black Cats sporting director Kristjaan Speakman could land Mowbray his dream Alex Pritchard heir by securing a bargain swoop for the gem.

Sunderland midfielder Alex Pritchard.

The Northern Ireland U21 international did not make a senior appearance during his time at Ibrox but his form for their academy side suggests that there is a big talent to be unearthed.

Lindsay scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 48 appearances for their B and U19 teams and David Lowry, who was his coach at Glentoran, previously hailed the maestro's attributes in the middle of the park by saying:

"He is a box-to-box midfielder who covers every blade of grass. He is powerful and quick, and his range of passing is first-class. He also knows when to pick a pass, and then he delivers it with precision. He ticks so many boxes as a footballer."

The teenager could be the ideal heir to Pritchard's throne at the Stadium of Light as, like the Englishman, he is a creative player with an eye for goal.

Lindsay, who racked up 12 goals and six assists in 33 games in the Lowland League this season, has not proven himself at first-team level yet but could learn from the ex-Tottenham and Norwich dynamo as he adjusts to playing senior football.

Pritchard, 30, scored four goals and provided six assists in 28 Championship starts in 2022/23 and has been a reliable option for Mowbray to call upon in the no.10 role.

The wizard has the quality to be a difference-maker at the top end of the pitch, by breaking down an opposition defence with a pass or finishing off a move himself, and Lindsay's form at youth level for Rangers indicates that he could grow into being a similar player.

51 y/o Tipped To Invest In Chelsea Youth

Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that possible future Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will use a lot of young players in his first season.

What's the latest on Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino?

After sacking both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter in the same season, only to see the Blues drop dramatically down the Premier League table, Todd Boehly will be hoping he gets his next big decision at Stamford Bridge correct.

This will no doubt relate to who he appoints as manager and for now it seems all but certain that former Spurs and PSG boss Pochettino will be hired.

Indeed, as per The Guardian, the Blues are close to agreeing a deal to bring the 51-year-old back to London for next season.

Perhaps the Argentine's biggest task will be handling the bloated squad he inherits and Brown seems to think that he may do this by giving youth a chance.

Indeed, when talking recently to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "With Pochettino, I think he works best when he has a squad full of young, hungry, talented players who will work for him, listen and play to the system. I think that's possible at Chelsea. It's just that they have a lot of older, more experienced players with slightly bigger egos who have been around and won stuff as well.

"But I think you will see Pochettino use a lot of the younger players because they're the ones who he can work with and mould and really build a system around. So I think that could be quite exciting for Chelsea."

Who will Chelsea sell under Pochettino?

To be fair, it was Pochettino who got the best out of Dele Ali at Tottenham with the midfielder winning the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year award twice in a row under Pochettino.

And Chelsea certainly have some exciting young prospects that could be moulded into fine players. The likes of Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson and Andrey Santos all spring to mind.

What's more, After spending a mammoth £88.5m to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, Boehly will no doubt be desperate to see the best out of the 22-year-old in the near future.

However, Pochettino will still have to deal with the senior stars too, so perhaps the first order of business when he arrives will be offloading some potentially unwanted first-team members such as Hakim Ziyech, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Christian Pulisic.

Aston Villa: Villans make move for Denzel Dumfries

Aston Villa have reportedly been in contact over a potential move for Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.

What’s the latest transfer news on Villa and Dumfries?

Dumfries, who shares the same agency as Villa defender Tyrone Mings, turned 27 today and is seemingly at the top of his game with a career-high €28m Transfermarkt valuation.

The Netherlands international joined Inter from PSV Eindhoven back in 2021 and has gone on to make 83 appearances in Italy, contributing to 20 goals in the process.

Capable of playing as a right-back or further forward in a right midfield role, the 27-year-old could well be on the move again over the coming months, with interest from the Midlands.

TEAMtalk relayed an update from Tuttomercatoweb regarding Villa and Dumfries in the last 48 hours. They said that those from Villa Park have been in touch over a possible deal and is one of the main right-back options under consideration in the Midlands.

There is also interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United, but Villa’s interest is thought to be more serious.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery watches on from the sideline as his side beat Newcastle United.

What would Dumfries bring to Villa Park?

You could say that Unai Emery is in need of a right-back addition this summer. The Villa boss has Matty Cash and Ashley Young as his current senior options, although, the latter of the two will turn 38 in a few months and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Therefore, bringing in someone like Dumfries to rival Cash could be a wise move, especially as the Poland international has been out through injury in recent weeks.

Dumfries, described as a “monster” by journalist Alan Rzepa, has outperformed Cash during the current campaign, as per WhoScored. The Inter man has averaged more shots and key passes per game than Cash, while also registering more assists and crosses than the Villa man, so could offer a greater attacking threat.

Capable of also turning out further forward, Dumfries would bring plenty of versatility to Emery’s side and has proven experience of playing in either the Champions League or Europa League over the past five seasons.

Villa are currently involved in a late push for European football next season after winning their last five Premier League games, and should they achieve that, it could help persuade Dumfries to move to England, making this one to watch heading into Emery's first full season in charge.

£22k p/w Bundesliga Ace Keen On Man United Transfer

Manchester United's summer target Jeremie Frimpong would be keen to make a move to Old Trafford ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Will Man United finish in the top four?

The Red Devils got back to winning ways on the weekend to give their hopes of a spot in next season's Champions League a much-needed boost.

Erik ten Hag's side remain three points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand over the north London side.

However, there may be some concerns as to whether Marcus Rashford will be available for the upcoming games after he seemingly suffered a fresh injury issue.

A spot inside the top four remains in their hands and it could be crucial for the Red Devils if they are to attract some of their summer transfer targets to Old Trafford.

One name which has been linked with a potential switch to Manchester is that of Bayer Leverkusen's Frimpong after his representatives held talks with United last week.

And speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the £22k-per-week right-back would be keen on a potential move to Old Trafford in the summer window:

(3:00) "I can confirm that the player is really attracted by a possible return to the Premier League because he started his career in England and now in this case, with Manchester United it's a possibility that is really attracting the player.

"So they've had the player in the list since October/November. They sent, Manchester United, people from their scouting department to follow Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen.

"And so let's see if bids will arrive for Aaron Wan-Bissaka but Frimpong is one to watch and the player would be keen on the move to Manchester United."

Should United sign Frimpong?

The 22-year-old has been a key feature in the Leverkusen side this season having now racked up 27 appearances in the Bundesliga (via Transfermarkt).

And in those games he has been able to provide a seriously impressive return of eight goals and five assists having played predominantly as a right wing-back.

However, there could be an issue for Ten Hag's men ahead of the summer with the believed interest also coming from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Jeremie Frimpong plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

The two European sides top their respective leagues and are looking certain to be playing in the Champions League ahead of the new season.

On the other hand, United's spot inside the top four is by no means secure with the Red Devils still to play Tottenham later this month.

It will be intriguing to see whether Frimpong's future could potentially be determined on whether United are able to seal a spot in next season's elite European football.

With the draw of playing for Barcelona and even the potential switch across Germany to Bayern in a league where he has so comfortably adapted since moving from Celtic.

United have seen Jadon Sancho come over from the Bundesliga and fail to hit the heights expected of him, however, there could be some confidence taken from the shared interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs.

Fulham Handed Potential Joe Scally Transfer Boost

Fulham have recieved a potential boost with the news that Borussia Monchengladbach defender Joe Scally could be available for €12m (£10.5m) this summer.

How is Scally playing this season?

The American is having an impressive season in the Bundesliga, proving to be an important figure for Monchengladbach and helping them sit comfortably in 10th place currently. Scally has started 21 of his side's league matches, also appearing as a substitute twice, making the right-back spot his own in the process.

With Fulham looking to make reinforcements during the summer transfer window, the defender is someone who has been linked with a move to Craven Cottage. Marco Silva will want to build from what has been an excellent 2022/23 season to date and ensure that it isn't a one-off, turning them into a genuinely established Premier League outfit.

It could be that a fresh challenge appeals to Scally come the end of the current campaign, with a move to England seen as possibly too good to turn down, and a new report has emerged regarding the 20-year-old's future.

Soccer Football – International Friendly – Saudi Arabia v United States – Estadio Nueva Condomina, Murcia, Spain – September 27, 2022 Joe Scally of the U.S. in action with Saudi Arabia’s Hattan Bahebri REUTERS/Pablo Morano

Could Scally be off to Fulham?

According to Bild [via Sport Witness], the Monchengladbach man has become a "shaky candidate" when it comes to the players the Bundesliga side could struggle to keep hold of at the end of the season. It is claimed that several Premier League clubs have "put out feelers" regarding the right-back's availability, who is valued at £10.5m. If that amount if met by a club, Scally's club would find it difficult "say no to".

While Fulham aren't specifically mentioned as one of the English clubs in question, it can certainly be assumed that they are one of them, given the recent rumours surrounding a move to west London.

Scally could be an exciting long-term signing by the Cottagers if they get a deal over the line this summer, with the four-cap USA international a long-term acquisition with a high ceiling. He is already a regular for a Bundesliga side, more than holding his own in a top European league, and he could come in and provide competition for Kenny Tete at right-back, who has started 20 league matches this season.

He has been hailed as a "great defender" by compatriot Ricardo Pepi, which further highlights his quality, and an average of two clearances and one tackle per game in the Bundesliga in 2022/23 also show what a competent defender he is.

Leeds board slammed by TalkSport pundit

Leeds United's board have been slammed by Simon Jordan over issues behind the scenes which could well be having an effect on the pitch.

What did Simon Jordan say about Leeds?

It has been another challenging season for the Whites who find themselves slumped in the bottom three of the Premier League table with just 12 games to go.

It still remains extremely tight around the bottom with two consecutive wins for Leeds potentially able to take them as high as 12th depending on results elsewhere.

However, issues behind the scenes surrounding the potential sale of the club to 49ers Enterprises have been questioned alongside other decisions made by the current owner.

Indeed, speaking on TalkSport, Jordan has questioned the behind-the-scenes running of the club and issues which may well be harming the club on the pitch:

"If you keep, a bit like Icarus, flying close to the sun, you're going to get burned in the end, aren't you? And you're now flying close to the sun again on the second season.

"And they haven't spent enormous amounts of money, but there's so much riding on this, you know, with Andrea [Radrizzani] probably going to leave the club if it stays in the Premier League with an acquisition structure that's in place, not possibly there if it's in the Championship.

"There's so much going on perhaps behind the scenes; you hear things about players that are being sold by one particular part of the football club that the other part of the football club may not want them to sell."

Is the Leeds board harming the club?

We have seen on numerous occasions that the club's sporting director, Victor Orta, has become involved in altercations with certain fans of the clubs at the games.

The Spaniard has, at times, been unable to keep his emotions in check which has seen him caught in the middle of some unprofessional incidents with the fans.

However, as mentioned by Jordan, if the board are selling certain players which others would have wanted to keep at the club, then of course there is the possibility for issues to arise on the pitch.

Leeds brought in a number of players this season but have not spent massively compared to others in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, they did see a lot of money come in through the sales of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips last summer leaving the club with a net spend of just £28m (via Transfermarkt).

And this has been a major issue for the Whites in being able to bring some money back into the club through player sales.

Raphinha and Phillips aside, over the last two seasons, Leeds have brought in less than £1m in player sales and only a few million pounds through loan deals.

Naturally, that will limit any club's ability to spend and that could well be the reason why Leeds are struggling so much again this season with relegation a serious possibility.

And considering the club could potentially be sold if they are able to keep their Premier League status, relegation could have huge ramifications for the West Yorkshire club.

Everton struck gold by selling Cleverley

Everton have developed a bad reputation for poor transfer business since the arrival of Farhad Moshiri at Goodison Park, so much so that is often overlooked whenever the club gets it right.

Indeed, the amount of money spent by the Toffees’ recruitment powers has rightly come under fire, with roughly £600m spent and little to show for it other than multiple relegation scraps, poor performances and financial strain.

However, there have been occasions when the club have made the right decision on a player’s future and earned a profit in the process, with Tom Cleverley the perfect example of a rare transfer masterclass from the Merseysiders.

The English midfielder joined the Toffees in 2015 when Roberto Martinez held the reins at Goodison Park, penning a five-year deal as a free agent after his contract at Manchester United expired.

Cleverley’s stint on Merseyside was far from a success despite costing Everton absolutely nothing to acquire, ultimately scoring two goals and registering seven assists in just 42 appearances and averaging a mere 67 minutes per game before he was sold for £8m to Watford just two years later.

It was Ronald Koeman’s arrival at Goodison Park which cost Cleverley opportunities to cement a place in the Everton team as Martinez was sacked just under 12 months after signing the Englishman, who was shipped off on loan to Watford six months ahead of his permanent move to Hertfordshire in 2017.

What happened to Tom Cleverley after Everton?

Now 33, Cleverley remains at Vicarage Road since his move six years ago, signing a new three-year contract in 2020 to extend his stay until at least this summer.

Over the past six years at his current club, the 5 foot 9 midfielder has tallied 181 appearances, 19 goals and 15 assists, but within a year at Watford he began suffering with consecutive long-term injury issues.

The former Man United flop has struggled with five separate injuries ruling him out for between 40 and 175 days, accumulating 602 days in total as he has faced more than 19 months out of action and missed 86 matches.

The former England international is now set to be out of contract at the end of the season, with Watford unable to take anything from the player’s departure after spending millions on him.

As a result, Everton had a very lucky escape by selling the midfielder when they did in 2017, as Cleverley’s poor injury record has left the recent years of his career in a state of inconsistency, and it can be said without doubt that Moshiri struck gold on selling him to the now-Championship club.

Southampton: Marsch fits manager ‘criteria’

Southampton managerial front-runner Jesse Marsch is desperate to prove himself in the Premier League, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Marsch close?

In the wake of Nathan Jones’ dismissal, The Athletic claimed that Marsch was under consideration for the manager’s job, given that he has recently lost his job at fellow Premier League side Leeds United.

The Southampton board look to have taken that initial interest one step further, with The Telegraph reporting that the former Leeds boss has already been interviewed and The Athletic even saying a deal is practically done on Tuesday morning.

The Latest: Jones reacts

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Jones claims that the 49-year-old has been a subject of interest from the Saints for a substantial period of time, also revealing the manager ‘fits’ what the club wants and has a ‘passion’ to test his mettle in England.

“We know Jesse Marsch has long been admired. He fits the criteria that they look for in a manager and they’ve considered him before.

“I think Jesse Marsch still, more than ever, has a passion to show that he can succeed in European football and particularly in the Premier League.”

The Verdict: Get it done?

The American was lauded as ‘brilliant’ by the media at the back end of the 2021/22 campaign, and although he may have been sacked from his last job, there are indications that he would still be a good appointment for Southampton.

Given that the former Red Bull Salzburg boss has so recently managed in the Premier League, he will possess a good knowledge of the opponents that the Saints are set to come up against, and a deal may not be difficult to orchestrate, as he is said to have remained in England.

While things did not work out on a long-term basis for Marsch in west Yorkshire, he did manage to keep Leeds in the top flight last season, so he has the experience and know-how required in a relegation dogfight.

Whoever Southampton choose to bring in, they should look to complete the deal as soon as possible, with a tough fixture away at Chelsea to contend with next weekend, which could leave them cut adrift if they suffer another defeat.
